A Message From The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center
Are you one of many who have received an e-mail, text message, or telephone call, purportedly
from your credit card/debit card company directing you to contact a telephone number to reactivate
your card due to a security issue? The IC3 has received multiple reports on different
variations of this scheme known as "vishing". These attacks against US financial institutions and
consumers continue to rise at an alarming rate.

Fraud
Alert For Members! Sun Federal would like to warn members of a current telephone phishing scam. Several members have received a phone call stating "this is Sun Federal calling to let you know that your Visa Credit Card or ATM Check Card account has been suspended." Members are then directed to call a 515-414-xxxx (last 4 digits vary) telephone number to reactivate the account. This is a scam! Please DO NOT call the 515 number.

Fraud Protection The Fraud Protection Service
Center for Sun Federal's Visa Credit Card is now automated. If
you have unusual purchase activity on your card, this service
may call you for transaction verification to prevent fraud. To
keep your card and identity safe, you must call back to verify
the transactions, otherwise your card may be blocked.
Following is a sample message you may hear or receive on an
answering machine:
"Hello. This
message is for...
This is the service center for your Sun Federal Visa credit
card account. We are calling to verify recent activity that
has appeared on your account. Please give us a call at (800)
437-9392. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. Again the telephone number is (800) 437-9392. Thank
you."
Sign up for Verified by VISA
If you shop online there is another tool available to
ensure your safety, the Verified by VISA program. This program
allows you to require a password to use your VISA card at
participating websites.
An increasing number of online retailers are partnering with
VISA to increase the safety of buying online through the
Verified by VISA program. Eventually, VISA will require all
online retailers that accept VISA to offer this program. After
you enter your card number a separate box appears asking you
to enter your password, thereby confirming your identity. You
don't need to sign up for Verified by VISA to use your card
online, it is an added safety feature you can use if you
choose.
