Vishing Attacks Increase
A Message From The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center

Are you one of many who have received an e-mail, text message, or telephone call, purportedly from your credit card/debit card company directing you to contact a telephone number to reactivate your card due to a security issue? The IC3 has received multiple reports on different variations of this scheme known as "vishing". These attacks against US financial institutions and consumers continue to rise at an alarming rate.

Fraud Alert For Members!
Sun Federal would like to warn members of a current telephone phishing scam. Several members have received a phone call stating "this is Sun Federal calling to let you know that your Visa Credit Card or ATM Check Card account has been suspended." Members are then directed to call a 515-414-xxxx (last 4 digits vary) telephone number to reactivate the account. This is a scam! Please DO NOT call the 515 number.

Sun Federal Credit Union offers its members no-surcharge ATMs at most of our branch locations and in thousands of other locations throughout the U.S. via the Alliance One and the CU Dollar ATM networks and the STAR network.

To ensure an ATM is truly surcharge free, please confirm that it is located on both the Alliance One or CU$ website, AND on the STAR website. Searches can be completed by financial institution name or ATM location address.

View a list of ATMs in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan that are surcharge free and located on both Alliance One and STAR.

About Surcharges
Today many Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) owners charge you directly to use their ATM machines. These surcharges usually add an additional 50 cents to two dollars per transaction.

To help members avoid these costs, many credit unions are joining together to offer member access to no surcharge machines. Sun Federal Credit Union has joined the Alliance One Network, in the Midwest, as well as CU$ alliance in Pennsylvania. Both are available through the Credit Union's STAR® processor.

While these machines should not charge you a fee for using the machine, other Sun Federal fees may apply. Please see the ATM Visa Check Card Fee Schedule for details.

Choose Credit, Not Debit
Remember to choose "CREDIT" instead of "ATM" or "DEBIT" when you use your Sun Federal ATM/Check card at the point of sale so that your purchase transactions will not count toward your first eight FREE transactions.
